Passion - Why I do what I do

If you are going to do anything in life, do the things that you love and are passionate about. For the last few years I have been trying to make it a point to stay happy through the things I am passionate about. That starts with the life I live with my amazing wife, and then the hobbies I have that have also allowed me to make a living. Climbing and photography have been such a big part of my life, that I made a career decision to major in Outdoor Recreation and work in the outdoor industry.

I started climbing when I was 14 years old. A new indoor climbing gym was built within walking distance of my home and is the reason I found my passion for climbing. It is also where I met and developed friendships, casually and professionally that have done so much for me even twelve years later.

Having worked for The Quarry for several years and then having a two year hiatus away from Utah in New England, I sort of lost my drive to try to climb hard anymore. When I started working for Momentum Indoor Climbing I regained the drive to train for climbing a little more. I still don't climb as much as I would like to, but life is busy when you are going to school full time and working full time. But in the last two years, I have been able to get on some routes that i've always wanted to and have been able to complete. This Summer has been an amazing Summer for climbing, and in two weeks it will come to a close on so many levels as I start a 19 credit hour schedule of school. The days that I have been able to get out and climb and try harder routes this year, have been some of the best climbing days i've had in 12 years of climbing. Long story short, the outdoors and my family drive my life and make me happier than anything else in this world possibly could!
